The most beautiful Merimbula town on the Merimbula lake, is centrally located on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Merimbula Wharf Aquarium
This historic Merimbula Wharf Aquarium offers gorgeous views of the ocean and is a home to local marine animals. Local seafood with a wide selections of wines can be enjoyed at the aquarium. The Aquarium Kids Club is held every Wednesday and Thursday evenings during January, where children can hold some marine animals.
Magic mountain is a small theme park situated on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales, near the town of Merimbula. This amusement park is definitely one of Merimbula’s favourites with giant toboggan, water slides, roller coaster, mini golf, mini grand prix race track, Triassic Park tour and a whole lot more to do. Magic Mountain also offers birthday, Christmas, corporate parties and holds fantastic events throughout the year.
Eden Killer Whale Museum
Eden killer Whale Museum is a museum in Eden, New South Wales, Australia. Eden Killer Whale Museum provides a unique display to the historic seafaring nature of the coast. 25 minutes drive south of Merimbula, the museum contains displays relating to the bygone whaling era and fishing industries. Was originally built to house the skeleton of “Old Tom”, leader of the killer whale pack which once hunted in unison with their human counterparts.
There are plenty of lakeside and beach strolls to enjoy in Merimbula but none more popular than the lakeside boardwalk and walking track. Stretching over three kilometres, this trail meanders along the shoreline and over high water on strategically constructed boardwalk. It is an easy walk for everyone and gives stunning views over the lake and surrounds. It is also a great place to view the changing colours at sunrise and sunset.
Merimbula is famous for its stretches of golden sands running into crystal clear waters. Main Beach is a short stroll away for surfing and swimming. Picturesque Mitchie's Beach is just around the corner and Merimbula Lake at the other end of the street.
Beach, lake, stream, estuary, reef and game fishing. Inlets and secluded bays abound along the length of the Sapphire Coast so there’s always something on the bite no matter what the season. Tackle shops will provide all the gear necessary and a bit of free advice as well.
At the top of the town in Merimbula, Top Fun entertainment centre is just the spot to while away an hour or two. Merimbula and the Sapphire Coast is a haven for wildlife including the friendly pelicans at home on Merimbula lake. Dolphins regularly surf the waves at local beaches, while stingrays are frequently observed passing beneath Merimbula Bridge. Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre
The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre is a non-profit community organization which aims to become Australia’s best temperate marine education and research centre. Established under The Eden Whale Discovery Centre Research Trust, and governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, the SCMDC is staffed by a full-time Executive Officer and part-time Administration Officer.
